Dear Parents,
Since 2011, Palm Beach Ice Works has been the proud home of The Skating Club of Florida, which was originally founded in 1962. The club strives to provide a welcoming environment that encourages friendship among its members and helps skaters of all levels to attain their figure skating goals. The professional coaching staff delivers high-quality instruction from basic skills to senior levels. All of the coaches are members of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and SafeSport trained.
The Skating Club of Florida is organized and managed by a board of dedicated volunteers. It takes a vast amount of time and energy to fulfill the many obligations and activities of the club.
Some of the goals for this year are to:
- Continue to provide test sessions.
- Support programming, such as Skate Friday.
- Hold our annual banquet.
- Provide skating exhibitions.
- Support regional, sectional, national, and international competitors.
- Hold a Fall Festival.
- Provide social functions.
- Provide club ice-time.
- Plan and organize for an annual competition.
- Engage in fundraising to support events and skaters.
Most figure skating clubs expect their members to volunteer in some capacity or pay a donation fee. For our club to achieve the goals mentioned above, we are strongly urging families of skaters to donate eight hours this year.
The success and growth of the club depend on each family being committed to support the club. If you are unable to volunteer in some capacity, we ask that you pay a donation fee of $75.00. Volunteering or paying a donation is not mandatory but highly encouraged.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to get involved with the club, meet new people and learn more about the sport of figure skating.
We appreciate your support of our skaters and our skating programs!
Please contact us if you have questions.
